Random Thing I Love

Exam Week at school. During this week, we get three days where we get to leave the building and have more than twenty minutes for lunch. We start planning our lunch schedule weeks in advance. Today's trip will be to this gem in Attleboro - Tex Barry's Coney Island Hot Dogs! As much as I try to change my diet to eat healthier, I don't think I will ever give up on hot dogs - gross, I know : )

Random Thing I Love

The way my husband knows every single fact about every single Celtics player (ever), coach (ever), game (ever), etc..."Thing I love" may be a stretch but I do find it fascinating and it make me more interested in the playoffs than I normally would be (especially since it feels like a funeral around here when they lose).

Random Thing I Love

Brown's Ice Cream in York Beach, Maine!
Whether taking a nice, hilly bike ride up during the day or driving up at night (and then immediately driving over to the Nubble), you can't beat Brown's. Love the Cookie Dough, Birthday Cake, and GrapeNut (always reminds me of when I used to go with Gramma)!
P.S. Second random thing I love - jackets with American flags embroidered on the back!

New Feature - Random Things I Love

In an effort to focus on the good things in life, I'm going (to attempt) to post one "random thing I love" each day.
First up?
Chalkboard walls in kitchens! On my "Must Have in Next House" list.

Half Marathon Prep

We went out at 8:30 this morning to do a longer run in preparation for the half marathon on May 2. Our goal was 12 miles but sticking with my theme of "92%" we probably ended up doing more like 11 1/2 because we decided to end the run at Dunkin Donuts to pick up some coffee rather than end the run at our house. It took about 98 minutes (about an 8 1/2 minute pace). Feeling a bit more confident about my ability to actually complete this half marathon!

On another positive note, I was able to run in some new gear. I checked out the new Nordstrom Rack in Framingham yesterday and my best finds were all running related. I wasn't overly impressed with the clothing selection but there were some good deals on Nike apparel.

VACATION PLANNING

The Coast Starlight

We are currently planning for an extended vacation next summer. We traveled Europe for 5 weeks on our honeymoon and loved riding the trains. Train travel is so much less complicated than air travel and lets you sightsee and relax as you head to your destination(s). So...we are looking at doing a "Grand Tour" of the U.S. on Amtrak. The trip would be divided into three major legs:
- Southwest Chief (Chicago to LA with potential stops in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona)
- Coast Starlight (LA to Portland with potential stops along the California coast, definitely in San Francisco)
- Empire Builder (Portland to Chicago with a definite stop at Glacier National Park)
The trip is in the early planning stages but I'm already finding myself researching train travel way more often than I should be!
